Outdoor Network Upgrade Bonney Lake | AP6-PRO Wrap Case Study

In Bonney Lake, even the smartest outdoor tech must look like it belongs. When the homeowner repainted their exterior dark-gray with black trim, the previously installed white access points stuck out like sore thumbs. At Rivas Technology Group, we don’t just fix problems—we deliver seamless design that works and looks great.

The Challenge

The white AP6-PRO units from Alta Labs were sleek—until the client’s aesthetic changed. The dark exterior made the white domes visually jarring. But we still needed peak RF performance. Wrapping metal parts was out: the aluminum base serves as the heat sink, so covering it risked overheating. We needed a design solution that wouldn’t interfere with performance.

The Solution

  • We selected premium cast vinyl in matte black—materials typically used in automotive and marine wraps—to match the new trim.

  • Only the plastic radome was wrapped; the aluminum base remained uncovered.

  • Our team cleaned surfaces, pre-pped with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol, applied the wrap using precision tools, and post-heated the film to set memory at ~220°F.

  • ✅ Results: None of the RF signals were affected; no thermal issues. The access points now blend perfectly with the dark siding—and even match the replaced black speakers.

Performance Check

  • RF transmission: 100% signal strength maintained.
  • Thermal: No temperature rise in heat sink areas.
  • Visual: Flush, professional finish—units look like they shipped black.
