The wiring inside a new house is now its slowest link. We pull one single-mode fiber to each room, terminate it in an IFP Connect wall module, and you plug in the same Ethernet cable you always have. For new builds and open-wall remodels in south King County and Pierce County.

Fiber to the jack runs one single-mode fiber from the rack to each room. It ends in an in-wall IFP Connect module that presents one or four ordinary Ethernet ports. Cat6A stays for devices that need power over Ethernet. Rivas Technology Group designs and installs the hybrid version in new construction and open-wall remodels across the South Sound.

What is the copper bottleneck?

The cable between your rack and your wall jack. Fiber to the home brings a multi-gig service to the side of the house, and from there the signal moves onto copper category cable. Copper Ethernet is limited to 328 feet per run, picks up interference near electrical lines and tops out well below what fiber carries over the same distance. Consider a house that streams 4K in several rooms, runs cameras, hosts video calls and drives a theater. There, the copper inside the walls is now the slowest part of the network.

How fiber to the jack works

One fiber replaces a bundle of copper. We pull a single single-mode fiber from the rack to each wall location and terminate it in a compact IFP Connect module behind a standard single-gang plate. The module presents one or four ordinary Ethernet ports, so the TV, the console and the desk plug in exactly as before1. A two-conductor power run feeds the module, which is how it reaches 1,000 feet where copper stops at 328.

Where copper still goes

To anything that needs power. Cat6A stays for cameras, Wi-Fi access points, video door stations, touch panels, intercoms and smart home processors. Where a single device sits on a long fiber run, an IFP Connect PoE module delivers up to 30 W at the wall2. It is fed by the fiber plus a small power run. Fiber distributes the speed; copper delivers the power. That hybrid is what we build.

Who it is for

New builds and open-wall remodels first. It suits whole-home Wi-Fi without speed drops, theater and gaming rooms that want low, consistent latency, Dante audio distribution, silent rack builds and work-from-home setups with multi-gig service. In a finished house with closed walls, a well-designed Cat6A network is still the right answer; the fiber design earns its cost when the cable can go in before drywall. Why IFP Connect

IFP Connect makes the fiber-to-the-jack system as a set: the wall modules, the PoE modules and the rack-side fiber switching, with a published three-year warranty3. We install it because the wall modules are the only added part in a new build, and the fiber in the wall outlasts every electronics generation. What drives the cost

Room count, run lengths, conduit and terminations. Fiber ends cost more to terminate than copper jacks, and the module at each wall plate is an added part, so a small house with short runs stays copper. The gap closes on larger homes, long runs and multi-gig service, and it closes further when the fiber goes in at construction. What is fiber to the jack?

One fiber strand pulled from the rack to each room, ending in a compact in-wall module that presents one or four ordinary Ethernet ports at the wall plate. Devices plug in as they always have; the permanent cable in the wall is fiber instead of copper.

Why fiber instead of Cat6A?

Copper Ethernet is limited to 328 feet per run and picks up interference near electrical lines. IFP Connect rates its modules to 1,000 feet with local power and the fiber itself carries far more than the copper4. Fiber has no lightning path and does not corrode, which matters in a wet climate.

Does anything still need copper?

Yes, anything that needs power over Ethernet: cameras, access points, video door stations, touch panels and controllers. We run Cat6A to those. Or we use an IFP Connect PoE module that delivers up to 30 W at the wall from a single fiber and a two-conductor power run2.

What speed do I get at the wall?

The current IFP Connect wall modules present gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000BASE-T) over a fiber link with a 4 Gb/s backplane5. The fiber in the wall is the part that lasts; the module at the end is the part you swap when faster ones ship.

Is it worth it in an existing house?

In a remodel with open walls, yes. In a finished house, usually not; a good Cat6A design does the job. It pays off most in new construction, where pulling fiber costs about the same as pulling copper and the modules are the only added part.

What does it cost?

What is the warranty?

IFP Connect publishes a three-year warranty on its hardware3. Our labor is covered under the published service policies, and CURATOR care plans monitor the network after handover.
