What goes into an outdoor living system?
Landscape audio, a weather-rated display, permanent eave lighting, low-voltage landscape lighting, a smart fan and one scene that runs them. The "Patio" scene starts the music at a level you set, turns on the eave and path lights, wakes the TV and starts the fan. The "Goodnight" scene shuts all of it down with the house.
Everything is chosen for a South Sound winter: direct-burial speakers, IP-rated displays, wet-rated fans and UL-listed permanent lighting. The yard is the outdoor half of home theater and audio and one of the six systems on the residential hub. The scenes run on Control4, and perimeter cameras and detectors from residential security share the same buried conduit.
How does landscape audio keep sound off the neighbors?
By using several lower-powered speakers spread through the planting beds and aimed back at the house, instead of one loud pair aimed at the fence. Sound is even where you sit and drops off at the property line. The speakers we install most are Rockustics direct-burial bollards. Each puts a dual-chamber bandpass subwoofer, a 4.5-inch midrange and a tweeter in one enclosure that reaches 38 Hz without a separate sub. They are designed to stand in the bed as a fixture rather than hide.
A typical suburban yard with a covered patio and a lawn is covered by two bollards plus in-ceiling speakers under the roof. A pool or a second seating area adds speakers and an amplifier zone. Cable is direct-burial rated and runs to the same rack that feeds the indoor zones, so the deck is one more zone in the app.
Which outdoor TVs last here?
SunBrite and Samsung The Terrace, both built for permanent outdoor mounting. A consumer TV outside lasts about one wet winter. Outdoor displays have powder-coated aluminum cases, sealed cable entries and an operating range of -24 to 122 F.
SunBrite's three series match the exposure. Veranda is for full shade under a covered patio, about 30 percent brighter than an indoor TV. Signature is for partial sun under a pergola, 700 nits with an anti-glare face. Pro is for full sun by a pool, with a tempered-glass shield. We look at where the sun falls at 6 p.m. in July, manage condensation, and mount the display so rain never hits the face.
What is permanent exterior lighting?
Color-changing LED fixtures in a track along the eave, invisible by day, that light the roofline at night on a schedule or a scene. Warm white for architecture on a weeknight, team colors on Sunday, a holiday pattern in December, and nobody on a ladder in the rain.

We install JellyFish permanent lighting and tie it to Control4 so it turns on at sunset with the low-voltage landscape lighting. That landscape lighting means path lights, up-lights on trees and the front elevation, and step lights on the deck, all on transformers the controller can switch. Interior scenes from smart lighting carry outside, so "Entertain" lights the patio the way it lights the dining room.
What drives the cost?
Speaker count, the display and its exposure, lighting length, how far the cable runs and whether a rack already exists. The basic system includes two speakers, an amplifier zone, cable and programming. A yard that already has a Control4 controller and a rack in the house pays less, because the control layer and amplification are shared. Our own team runs the burial cable, sets weatherproof power, mounts the display and fixtures, and programs the scenes under WA electrical contractor license RIVASGL799DR. Landscaping is put back the way we found it. You get a 90-day workmanship warranty, the manufacturers' warranties on the hardware, support at published rates, and the optional CURATOR plan for remote fixes, with small seasonal scene tweaks on Plus and Complete.
