Rivas Technology Group installs and supports the Island Router in south King and Pierce counties: a wired, subscription-free router from PerfTech, built in the United States. Island handles 1 Gbps service and 5,000 devices; Island Pro handles 10 Gbps and 10,000. Neither has built-in Wi-Fi, so we pair it with wired access points.

What is the Island Router?
A wired router from PerfTech, built in the United States, with no subscription and no cloud account required to run it1. It does the routing and the firewall for the whole property and hands wireless to separate access points, because it has no Wi-Fi of its own2. That is the same split every business network uses, and it is why a smart home with cameras, a Control4 processor, streaming and sixty other devices stays stable on it.
Island or Island Pro?
Island fits most homes; Island Pro is for multi-gig internet, camera systems and large properties. Same software on both; the difference is capacity and form factor1.

The figures are the manufacturer's1. Choose Island when your service is 1 Gbps or less and the house runs a normal smart-home load. Choose Island Pro when you have multi-gig fiber, an NVR with more than a few cameras, 4K in several rooms at once, or a rack you want everything mounted in. Subscription-free, and what that means
There is no monthly fee and no cloud login standing between you and your own router. Island features are subscription-free1, the firewall is active from first boot, and management runs locally through the app. Consumer routers that depend on a vendor cloud stop being fully manageable when that service changes or ends; Island does not have that dependency.
A wired router needs access points
Island replaces the router, not the Wi-Fi. Every install pairs it with wired access points, one per floor as a minimum, each on its own Ethernet run to a PoE switch. We use Ruckus, Alta Labs or Ubiquiti UniFi depending on the building. If you already own a mesh system, it can stay for now in access point or bridge mode while Island takes over routing; most clients replace it with wired access points on the next visit. Who it is for
Homeowners running Control4 or Josh.ai, a camera system, whole-home audio and a house full of phones, and small businesses that want business-grade routing without a managed-service contract. If your Wi-Fi mostly works and you cannot explain the failures, the router is usually the first thing we replace. If you are building or remodeling, it is the first thing we spec. The FCC router rule, stated correctly
In March 2026 the FCC added foreign-produced consumer-grade routers to its Covered List, which blocks authorization of new foreign-made consumer router models for the US market3. Routers already installed remain legal. The waiver that lets them keep receiving software updates was set to lapse March 1, 2027, and has been extended to at least January 1, 20294. Nobody has to rip out a working router today. What the rule changes is the buying decision: a new router should be one that will still be sold and updated after 2029. Island is built in the United States1, which takes that question off the table.
Our installation and support
We design the network, install the router with its access points and switch, configure VLANs, firewall rules and DNS over HTTPS, and label everything. Two ways to get there:
- Whole network. Site survey, fixed proposal within three to five business days, install by our own team, 90-day workmanship warranty. Priced through the instant quote or the walk-through.
- Remote setup on a router you bought. We configure it with you on a call, at the published remote support rate with a one-hour minimum (pricing and policies). Buy the Island, the Island Pro and the remote setup hour in the shop; we ship nationwide.
After install, CURATOR monitors the network remotely and fixes most issues before you notice them. Without a plan, support is a call or text away, Monday to Friday 8 to 5.

Island or Island Pro: which one do I need?
Island for internet service up to 1 Gbps and a normal smart home. Island Pro for multi-gig service, a camera system with an NVR, or a large property with a rack. Island Pro adds 10 Gbps SFP+ ports and management for up to 10,000 devices1.
Does the Island Router have Wi-Fi?
No. Island is a wired router with no built-in Wi-Fi2. It replaces the router, and wired access points provide the wireless. That split is why it performs; it is also why it needs a design.
Is there a monthly fee?
No. Island features are subscription-free1. There is no cloud account required to manage it, so the firewall and routing do not stop working if a service is discontinued.
Will it work with the mesh system I already have?
Yes, if the mesh is set to access point or bridge mode so Island does the routing. That is a common first step before replacing the mesh with wired access points.
How much does an Island Router cost?
PerfTech lists Island at $499 and Island Pro at $1,4991 (September 2026). The router is the small part of a network budget; the access points, cabling and design are the rest. The instant quote gives you a whole-network number.
Do I need to replace my router because of the FCC rule?
No. Installed routers stay legal and keep getting updates under a waiver the FCC has extended to at least January 1, 2029. The rule blocks authorization of new foreign-made consumer router models, so if you are buying new, buy a router that will still be sold and supported.
Can I buy it and set it up myself?
