What the driver does

A local Control4 camera driver for the Ajax Baseline video-surveillance IP cameras — it talks to the camera directly over ONVIF on your network.

Live video on every Navigator

Main and sub streams on touchscreens, the Control4 app and on-screen TV, through the Control4 camera proxy.

AI detections as Control4 events

Person, vehicle, pet, other, line-crossing and motion become Control4 events, variables and conditionals you can program against.

History & playback

Events land in the Control4 app's History / Timeline, each with a playback link that opens the camera's SD recording at that moment.

Picture control

Day / Night, Wide Dynamic Range and picture levels as programming commands — limited to what the camera supports.

Local & private

Talks to the camera directly over ONVIF on your LAN. No cloud, no Ajax account, nothing opened to the internet. The Ajax app keeps working alongside.

Set-and-forget

Auto-names the Control4 device from the camera; settings, counters and playback links survive reboots and driver updates.

  • Person
  • Vehicle
  • Pet
  • Line crossing
  • Motion
  • Other

AI detections surfaced as Control4 events & variables — automate scenes on person, vehicle, pet, line-crossing and motion.

Good to know — the one limitation

No snapshot still — a baseline-camera limit, not the driver. The baseline Ajax camera doesn't expose a snapshot (still-image) address — both ONVIF snapshot calls are refused, and it has only two video encoders — so there's no still image to pull. Control4 views that rely on a snapshot (the 2-column Multiview, History thumbnails) can't show this camera's picture; events show their type icon instead. Live view, detections and History playback all work normally. If you use a camera model that does offer a snapshot, the driver detects and uses it automatically.

Also not included: PTZ / pan-tilt-zoom, two-way talk, and Ajax alarm-system integration (nothing from the Ajax cloud). The driver doesn't record — the camera records to its own SD card and the driver links to it for playback.
