Which Federal Way neighborhoods do we cover?

All of them, and the three we are asked about most are Twin Lakes, Dash Point and Steel Lake. Twin Lakes is established single-family streets around the golf course, mostly 1970s and 1980s houses with an attached garage, a side gate and a back deck. The alarm is wireless and the cameras go on the driveway and the gate.

Dash Point is waterfront and hillside, with driveways that drop toward the Sound and stairs to the beach. There, outdoor MotionCam detectors and cameras on the drive matter more than the porch. Steel Lake and the streets near the park are older ramblers and split-levels close to Pacific Highway. A camera doorbell and a back-door sensor solve most of what owners worry about there.

Our office is at 415 Railroad Ave S in Kent, about 15 minutes away by SR-516 and I-5. Federal Way is a core service area for us, not the edge of a map.

Is there a contract?

No. Month-to-month monitoring, no activation fee, no early-termination fee, and you own every Ajax device. Compare that with the ADT authorized-dealer offer for Federal Way, which lists $49.99 a month, a $99 activation fee, a required monitoring agreement and possible early-termination fees1. Long contracts exist to pay off equipment the customer never owns. We price hardware as hardware and let monitoring earn its place every month. Self-monitoring through the Ajax app costs nothing.

What is in a Federal Way home security system?

An Ajax Hub 2 Plus, door and window sensors, MotionCam detectors, a keypad and cameras where the property is approached. MotionCam delivers the first photo within 9 seconds of detection2, so you see a person or a raccoon before anyone calls. The hub keeps Ethernet, Wi-Fi and two cellular SIMs live at once3. Ajax covers the hardware with a 24-month warranty4. The platform is explained on the home security page.

DIY kit or professional install?

A kit for a rental with two doors; a designed system for a house. SafeWise's Federal Way page says professional installation might cost up to $2005, which tells you the install is not where the money goes.

What you are paying for is placement that covers the side gate and cable to cameras that will not drop off Wi-Fi. It is also a system tested working before we leave, and a licensed company 15 minutes away when a sensor needs attention. If you have a Twin Lakes garage, a Dash Point driveway or a Steel Lake alley, that is the difference.

How does a verified alarm reach Federal Way Police?

A detector trips, MotionCam photographs the room, and the hub sends the burst over whichever channel is alive. An operator at Becklar, a UL-listed central station reviews it and calls you, and a confirmed intrusion goes to dispatch with a description. Verified calls get taken seriously where bare sirens do not. Self-monitoring sends the same photo to your phone and leaves the decision to you.

Do you also secure Federal Way businesses?

Yes. Shops, offices and clinics along Pacific Highway South and the I-5 corridor get MotionCam on the floor and cameras over the register and back door. They also get an Akuvox reader at the staff entry with a log of every opening. On commercial jobs our team designs and supervises and licensed trade partners run the cable. Details are on the business security page.

What drives the cost?

Detector count, camera count and cable. A Steel Lake rambler with a doorbell camera and four sensors is a small job. A Dash Point home with a detached garage, a beach stair and five cameras is not. Cloud recording adds a per-camera monthly charge; local recording does not. Ajax hardware is yours and monitoring is month to month. We do not publish Ajax kit, installation or monitoring prices on this page. The Ajax cost page explains what moves the number, and the instant quote gives you one for your address.

Who monitors it?

A UL-listed central station staffed 24 hours a day. Operators see the MotionCam photo before they act, which is why false dispatches are rare. You can switch between monitoring and self-monitoring at any time without changing hardware.

DIY or professional installation in Federal Way?

Do you cover Dash Point?

Yes. Dash Point homes face the Sound with steep driveways and long sightlines. We use outdoor MotionCam detectors and cameras aimed at the drive and the beach stairs, not just the front door.

Can I see my Federal Way cameras from my phone?

Yes. Ajax cameras stream live and recorded video to the Ajax app, with alerts on people and vehicles rather than every headlight on Dash Point Road. Recording can run locally or in the cloud.

How fast can you reach Federal Way?

Do you install video doorbells in Federal Way?

Yes. We install Akuvox video intercoms and camera doorbells on existing doorbell power so they stay online through the winter, aimed to catch faces at the step. The doorbell joins the same app as the alarm.
