Where in Kent do we install security systems?
Everywhere in the city, because the city is where we live: our office is at 415 Railroad Ave S in the Green River Valley. Homes on East Hill and along Kent-Kangley Road are mostly established construction, so we design wireless-first with Ajax detectors that need no new cable. Newer houses around Meridian and Lake Meridian get pre-wire coordination when the walls are still open. Mid-century homes near downtown and the Kent Station area get the same wireless approach with cameras on existing power.
The Kent Valley is different. It is one of the largest warehouse and distribution districts in the state, and the calls we get from it are about yards, loading doors and staff entries, not front porches. We answer those with outdoor MotionCam detectors on the fence line, AI cameras that report people and vehicles, and Akuvox readers at the doors staff actually use.
Drive time from the office is short: most Kent addresses are under 15 minutes.
Does Kent Police watch registered cameras?
No. Kent runs a voluntary Surveillance Camera Registration Program, often called SafeCam, that records where private cameras point so detectives know whom to ask after an incident. The city's page states that the Kent Police Department will not have remote access to your cameras1. Register if you like; the footage stays on your recorder, and you decide what to share.
What does a Kent home security system include?
A hub, door and window sensors, MotionCam detectors, a keypad and one or more cameras, all on the Ajax platform. MotionCam sends the first photo of what tripped the alarm within 9 seconds2, so you see a person or a cat before anyone calls the police. The Hub 2 Plus keeps talking through Ethernet, Wi-Fi and two cellular SIMs, so a cut line or a dead router does not silence it3. Everything carries the 24-month Ajax warranty4. Details for homes are on the residential security page.
What should a Kent Valley warehouse or shop install?
Three layers: intrusion on the doors and the yard, AI cameras where product moves, and access control with a log. A MotionCam on a loading dock after hours produces a photo, a UL-listed operator reviews it, and police get a verified call rather than a siren. The Hub 2 Plus supports up to 200 users, so a manager, a cleaning crew and a vendor can each have their own code and their own audit trail. Retail and restaurants along Central Ave and West Meeker get cameras over the register and back door first. The full commercial scope is on the business security page.
Can we install a doorbell camera in Kent?
Yes, and it is one of the most common Kent requests we see in search. A camera doorbell is useful when it stays online, so we run power to it rather than trusting a battery through a Kent winter, and we aim it to capture faces at the step, not the street. For gated homes and small offices we install Akuvox intercoms, which we are certified to install (ACIA and ACII), with face, PIN and fob entry and a full entry log. The doorbell joins the same app as the alarm and cameras.
How does a verified alarm reach the police?
In five steps. A detector senses movement and signals the hub. MotionCam captures a photo burst. The hub sends it over Ethernet, Wi-Fi or cellular, whichever is alive. The central-station operator looks at the photo and calls you. If it is a real intrusion, they dispatch with a verified description. Self-monitoring skips the operator and simply alerts your phone, with no monthly fee.
What drives the cost?
Device count, cable runs and recording. A three-bedroom East Hill house needs fewer detectors than a two-story Meridian home with a detached shop. Cameras cost more to install where cable has to cross a finished ceiling or an asphalt yard. Cloud recording adds a per-camera monthly fee; local recording does not. Ajax hardware is yours, and monitoring is month to month. We do not publish Ajax kit or install prices on this page; the Ajax cost page explains what moves the number, and the instant quote gives you one for your address.
Who monitors it?
A UL-listed central station, staffed around the clock, with operators who see the MotionCam photo before they call. You choose monitoring or self-monitoring at any time; the hardware does not change.

Questions we hear
Can Kent Police see my security cameras?
No. Kent's SafeCam registry records where cameras are so officers know whom to ask after an incident. The city states that Kent Police will not have remote access to your cameras. Registration is voluntary and free at kentwa.gov.
How much does security camera installation cost in Kent?
Thumbtack lists Kent camera jobs from about $100 for a single run to $1,000 to $2,200 for a full system, as of September 2026. Our price depends on camera count, cable paths and whether you want a cloud recording plan. Use the instant quote for a number on your property.
Do you install video doorbells in Kent?
Yes. We install Akuvox video intercoms and camera doorbells on homes across East Hill, Meridian and downtown Kent, wired for power so they never drop off Wi-Fi. Existing doorbell wiring is reused where it is sound.
Can I watch my Kent cameras from my phone?
Yes. Ajax cameras and the Ajax app show live and recorded video on your phone, with alerts that fire on people and vehicles rather than on every passing shadow. Recording can run locally or in the cloud.
Do you handle warehouses in the Kent Valley?
Yes. Kent Valley distribution buildings, shops and yards get perimeter MotionCam detectors, AI cameras on loading doors and yards, and Akuvox access control at staff entries. Trade partners work under our design and supervision on commercial sites.
Does Kent require an alarm permit?
Kent's alarm registration rule is not something we publish here because it changes. Ask us before install and we will confirm the current requirement with the city as part of commissioning your system.
How fast can you get to a Kent address?
Our office is on Railroad Ave S, so site visits and service calls in Kent are usually the same or next business day.
Is there a contract for monitoring?
No. Professional monitoring through Becklar, a UL-listed central station is month to month, and the Ajax hardware is yours from the day it goes on the wall. Self-monitoring through the app has no monthly fee.
