What goes in first in a Federal Way home?
Security, with no contract attached. Federal Way homeowners see a lot of alarm offers built on activation fees and early-termination clauses, so that is worth saying up front. Ours is month to month through Becklar, a UL-listed central station, and the hardware is yours from day one. What goes on the wall is an Ajax hub, door and window sensors, cameras and an Akuvox video doorbell. MotionCam detectors deliver the first photo within 9 seconds1. Where in Federal Way do we install?
Across the city, about 20 minutes from our office at 415 Railroad Ave S in Kent by SR-516 and I-5. Dash Point is waterfront and hillside, with west-facing glass, driveways that drop toward the Sound and stairs down to the beach. Work there means motorized shades, outdoor audio, cameras on the perimeter and Wi-Fi that reaches the lower level.
Twin Lakes and Steel Lake are established subdivisions of 1970s and 1980s houses around the golf course and the park. Those are wireless-first jobs: Control4 dimmers in the boxes that exist, Ajax on the frames, no drywall repair. West Campus and the streets around Celebration Park mix homes with small businesses, and one team handles both. Federal Way is a core service area for us, not the edge of a map.
What does Control4 add to a Federal Way home?

Why does the network come first in Federal Way?
Because a Dash Point house on three levels with a daylight basement needs a wired access point on each floor, not a mesh kit by the TV. Every camera, keypad, speaker and shade rides on that network. Wi-Fi is sized by device count, Cat6A runs to fixed equipment, and the Island Router, a wired, subscription-free router3, sits at the head of it. Theater, audio and shades
Dash Point is the shade job. West-facing glass gets motorized shades on a schedule that follows the sun, so the view stays and the heat does not. In Twin Lakes and Steel Lake, bonus rooms become media rooms with calibrated speakers and a display sized to the seating distance, starting with one button. Music zones run inside and out. What do you do differently at Dash Point?
Shades on the west-facing glass, because the Sound throws afternoon glare across the room. Outdoor detectors and cameras on the driveway and beach stairs. Wired access points so Wi-Fi reaches the lower level and the deck.
Is there a contract for monitoring?
No. Monitoring through Becklar, a UL-listed central station is month to month with no activation fee and no early-termination fee. Self-monitoring through the Ajax app is free. The hardware is yours from day one.
