What was the problem?

Product and equipment were disappearing from a busy Tacoma restaurant and nobody could prove who or when. Clyde's Southern Wood Fired BBQ had cameras, but they hung where a previous installer had found convenient, not where the losses happened. The motion-based alerts fired on every passing car and swaying branch, so the owner had learned to ignore them, which meant the one alert that mattered was ignored too. When something went missing, the footage either did not exist or did not show the right area. Three failures, one cause: a system that was never designed around the risk.

What did we design?

An Ajax video surveillance system built around where the losses actually occur. We walked the property with the owner and marked the rear alley and service area, the smoker and equipment yard, and the other points where product and gear sit exposed. We placed a camera for each so it captures identification, not a wide view of nothing. Every angle was verified on site and confirmed with the owner before the job was called done. The design brief was simple: continuous recording so footage always exists, and alerts that fire on people and vehicles and nothing else, so the owner starts reading them again.

What did we install?

Ajax AI bullet cameras, recording 24/7. The AI runs inside each camera and classifies people and vehicles. That is what lets the system stay quiet when a branch moves or headlights sweep the lot and speak up when a person is in the yard after close. The named views on the owner's phone include CAM 02, the rear alley and service area, and CAM 04, the smoker and equipment yard. Ajax hardware carries a 24-month warranty1. What changed for Clyde's?

The losses stopped. When something does happen, the footage exists, it is clear, and it shows the right area. Because the AI filters the motion noise, an alert on the owner's phone is worth looking at every time, and the smoker stays where it belongs. The owner went from a system he had stopped trusting to one he checks because it is rarely wrong.

What drives the cost of a project like this?

Camera count, cable paths and recording. A restaurant with a back door, a yard and a register needs three to six cameras; a larger site with a parking lot needs more. Cable that crosses a finished ceiling or an asphalt yard costs more to run than cable along a back wall. Cloud recording adds a per-camera monthly fee; local recording does not.
