What goes in first in a Kent smart home?
Security. We install it from our own office on Railroad Ave S, so the first system in a Kent house is the one we can reach fastest. Where in Kent do we install?

East Hill and the streets off Kent-Kangley Road are established family neighborhoods, so lighting is wireless dimmers and keypads, shades run on rechargeable motors, and nothing gets opened up.
Meridian and Lake Meridian have newer houses and active construction. What does Control4 add to a Kent home?

Why does the network go in before the keypads?
Because every camera, keypad, speaker and shade rides on it. We size Wi-Fi by device count, run Cat6 or Cat6A to fixed equipment, put a PoE switch in a ventilated rack and label every cable. The router is the Island Router, wired and subscription-free, with Ruckus or Alta Labs access points above it.

What about theater, audio and shades?
You get a media room that starts with one button, music zones for the kitchen and the deck, and shades that follow the sun. In Kent we build more media rooms than dedicated theaters, usually in the bonus room over the garage on East Hill. They get calibrated speakers and a display sized to the seating distance.
