What goes in first on a Covington or Maple Valley property?
Security that covers the driveway and the shop, not just the front door. The Ajax hub and the door and window sensors go in first, with MotionCam detectors that send a photo of whatever moved within 9 seconds1. Then outdoor detectors on the drive and the shop door, and cameras tuned to report people and vehicles instead of deer. Ajax's Hub 2 manual rates the Jeweller radio at up to 2,000 m in open space2. Where in Covington and Maple Valley do we install?
Everything along Kent-Kangley Road from the SR-516 corridor out to Lake Wilderness. The road runs straight from our office at 415 Railroad Ave S in Kent, about 15 minutes to Covington and 25 to Maple Valley. Four Corners and the SR-516 corridor are where the new construction is, and there we pre-wire at framing. Cat6A home runs, speaker cable and conduit to the rack, each run verified before the drywall goes up.
Lake Wilderness mixes older cabins with newer houses on wooded waterfront lots. Out there the work is landscape audio, perimeter cameras and Wi-Fi that reaches the dock. Larger-lot properties in both cities tend to have a detached shop and a driveway that runs 200 feet through the trees. That is where our security and network design earns its keep. What does Control4 add to a Covington or Maple Valley home?
On a Maple Valley acreage lot, the scenes that matter are the outdoor ones. Driveway lights on when the gate camera sees a vehicle after dark, shop lights off when the house arms. Because fir trees, square footage and a second building beat any consumer mesh kit, and every camera and keypad on the property depends on the network. A mesh puck in the kitchen will not reach a shop 150 feet away through the trees. After a site survey we run Cat6A to wired access points in the house and in the shop, or connect the two buildings with a point-to-point link. Theater, audio, shades and the yard
At Lake Wilderness the first ask is landscape audio and an outdoor TV. On the corridor's new builds it is speaker cable to every room and a bonus-room theater framed in from the start. A media room that starts with one button, deck music that stays inside the property line, and shades that share a schedule with the lights round it out. What drives the cost?
Rooms, buildings, cable distance and the equipment you already own. Out here the second building is the variable: a shop adds detectors, an access point and either a cable run or a wireless bridge. Pre-wire at framing on a corridor build is the cheapest cable you will ever buy. Why does Wi-Fi die on a Maple Valley lot?
Trees, distance and detached buildings. A mesh kit in the kitchen will not reach a shop 150 feet away through fir trees. We run Cat6A to wired access points in the house and the outbuilding, or bridge them with a point-to-point link, after a site survey.
Can one alarm cover the house, the shop and the driveway?
